About

Relax and Take 5! with free, live jazz in the Kogod Courtyard every third Thursday of the month. Latin Grammy Award-winning drummer and bandleader Joe McCarthy leads the Afro Bop Alliance in a concert showcasing the musical traditions, unique rhythms, and improvisational techniques distinctive to Afro-Cuban jazz. This style of music, with its blend of Latin genres and bebop, influenced musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie and made a lasting impression on jazz. Stop by the Courtyard Café for refreshments, and borrow a board game to play during the concert.
